BetMaze's odds are generally pretty decent. The brand operates on the ProgressPlay platform, with its sportsbook powered by BetConstruct, a well known international sportsbook technology provider. As a result, the standard prices are competitive enough across football and most other major sports, although you won't necessarily find BetMaze offering the best odds on every event. One slight frustration is that BetMaze doesn't appear on the major live odds-comparison grids, making it more difficult to quickly compare its prices against the leading bookmakers. You therefore need to check BetMaze directly to see how its price compares on a particular selection. BetMaze also offers Boosted Odds on selected events across sports including football, tennis and basketball, providing some additional value alongside its standard prices. Overall, the everyday odds are perfectly respectable, although the range of price enhancements is fairly limited compared with some of the UK's leading bookmakers.

BetMaze covers all the main sports you would expect, with football, horse racing, tennis, basketball, cricket and rugby among the most prominent. Alongside the mainstream options you'll find everything from water polo to pickleball, great news if either happens to be your specialist sport, but I suspect most UK punters won't be rushing to them on a Saturday afternoon. A slightly more streamlined menu would make the sportsbook easier to navigate. Football has the strongest market depth, particularly on bigger matches, although the difference between BetMaze and the leading UK sportsbooks becomes noticeable when you start looking for more specialist markets. Horse racing is considerably more basic, with the essential markets covered but nowhere near the depth offered by the major racing bookmakers. Overall, BetMaze certainly isn't short of things to bet on. The breadth of sports and strong esports coverage are positives, but the sportsbook would benefit from concentrating more on depth within the markets UK bettors are most likely to use.

This becomes particularly noticeable when comparing BetMaze with the likes of bet365, where the genuine variety of in-play market types is considerably greater. BetMaze pushes its live product heavily and makes it very easy to access, but the actual market depth isn't quite as extensive as those numbers might initially have you believe.

BetMaze does have a dedicated Bet Builder, with eligible matches clearly marked with a ‘BB’, making it easy to see which games support the feature. There is a decent selection of markets available for putting together your own same-game multiple. Where it falls down is the technology behind it. You can select a market only to find that your next selection isn't compatible, yet incompatible options remain available for you to choose. Ideally, once you've made your first selection, any markets that can't be combined with it should automatically disappear or become unavailable. It means putting together a more complicated Bet Builder can become a tedious process of adding selections and discovering which combinations the system will actually accept. The functionality is there, but the user experience could definitely be improved.

Live streaming is a notable omission at BetMaze, with no live video available for horse racing, football or other sports. This is disappointing considering how prominently the sportsbook pushes its ‘Live’ betting product. You do get live visualisations and match statistics on selected events, but they aren't a substitute for actually watching the action. That said, there is some context worth considering. BetMaze is fairly limited when it comes to daily promotions built around the biggest games and sporting events. This is an area where I think the sportsbook could do considerably more, particularly with featured offers created around the standout events of the day. A stronger focus on featured-event promotions, combined with a prominent promotional carousel, would make a noticeable difference.

The majority are focused on football, with a good selection of boosted singles available across the bigger competitions and events. There are also ‘Multiples Of The Day’, which are pre-selected accumulators offered at enhanced odds. I actually prefer how these are presented, as a yellow tab clearly displays the percentage boost being applied, so you can immediately see the additional value you're getting. The boosted singles aren't presented quite as well. There is no clear ‘was/now’ price showing the original odds alongside the enhanced price, making it difficult to appreciate exactly how much of a boost you're receiving. Overall, there's a decent selection of enhanced prices and I like having everything accessible from a dedicated section. The Multiples Of The Day are particularly well presented; I'd just like to see the same level of transparency applied to the boosted singles. Overall, having a dedicated Boosted Odds area is a positive, and the addition of Multiples Of The Day makes the offering better than it initially appears. I'd just like to see the original odds displayed alongside the boost and a little more variety in the types of enhanced bets available. They need to increase the volume of boosts to be more impactful for players.

BetMaze's welcome offer is straightforward and easy to understand. New customers can Bet £10 and Get a £10 Free Bet, giving you a 100% return on your qualifying stake in the form of a Free Bet. It's certainly not one of the biggest welcome offers available, but the relatively low qualifying requirement makes it accessible and there aren't lots of complicated steps to work through. What I do find disappointing is the 10x wagering requirement on the Free Bet. On a £10 bonus, this feels a bit unnecessary. Being held to that sort of wagering requirement for such a small Free Bet doesn't look particularly good and, in my opinion, probably isn't worth the hassle. There are bigger welcome bonuses available from other brands operating on the same ProgressPlay platform, so you'd be better off looking at one of those if the bonus is important to you. The underlying sportsbook experience will be virtually identical, but you could get considerably more value for signing up. As always, check the full terms before registering to make sure you qualify and understand the wagering requirements.

You still get access to the full sportsbook through your mobile browser, although I found the overall experience a little unusual. The sportsbook itself appears to sit within a framed section of the website and, on mobile, only occupies around half of the screen at certain points, with a large carousel sitting above it that doesn't seem to serve much purpose. The important point here is that BetMaze works on mobile without requiring an app, but the experience isn't as seamless as it could be.

BetMaze is reasonably straightforward to navigate once you become familiar with the layout, and one feature I particularly like is the menu system on the left-hand side. Rather than having to open a sport, load another page and then navigate again to find the competition you want, you can filter directly through sports and competitions from the same menu. It works particularly well when you're jumping between different leagues or sports, as you can drill down to the competition you want with fewer clicks. This is one area where the old-school European-style layout actually works in BetMaze's favour. The sheer number of sports available does make the menu quite long, with plenty of niche European and international options alongside the more popular UK sports. However, the ability to filter down through the menu makes that extensive coverage considerably easier to manage. Once inside an event, markets are separated into categories, while Live events are prominently displayed, Bet Builder-compatible fixtures are clearly marked with a ‘BB’, and Boosted Odds have their own section. The iframe implementation does make the overall navigation more awkward than it needs to be, particularly when you find yourself scrolling within the sportsbook and then separately scrolling the surrounding page. However, looking specifically at the sportsbook's menu structure, I actually think BetMaze gets quite a lot right.

The BetMaze bet slip is functional enough for straightforward singles, clearly displaying your selection, odds, stake and potential returns. On desktop, it also remains conveniently positioned alongside the sportsbook as you browse different events and markets. Where I think it falls short is with multiples and combination bets. The bet slip doesn't identify options such as Lucky 15s and other combination bets in the clear, familiar way you would expect from a conventional UK bookmaker. If you're accustomed to betting on these types of multiples, particularly on horse racing, the presentation can initially feel confusing and unnecessarily difficult to understand. This is another area where the old-school European feel of the BetConstruct sportsbook becomes apparent. The functionality may be there, but it isn't presented using the familiar terminology and layout that most UK bettors will immediately recognise. There are also the Bet Builder issues mentioned earlier, with incompatible selections remaining available rather than being removed or disabled as you build your bet. Overall, the bet slip works perfectly adequately for simple bets, but for combination bets and Bet Builders, I think the user experience needs considerable improvement.

In terms of branding, BetMaze is actually pretty decent. The brand previously operated on a different platform through Aspire Global and, in my opinion, had one of the best looking sites using that technology. Since moving to ProgressPlay, however, they appear to have struggled to carry the same style across to the sportsbook, largely because of the limitations of the platform. The initial BetMaze landing pages look like a modern sportsbook, with contemporary branding and a much cleaner presentation. The problem comes once you register and enter the actual sportsbook. You're suddenly presented with the much older ProgressPlay and BetConstruct interface, and the difference between the two is considerable. I don't particularly like this approach. The landing pages create an expectation of the betting experience you're about to receive, yet the product you actually use after registering looks and feels very different. I find that misleading, particularly when you're being encouraged to create an account based partly on the presentation of a sportsbook that isn't representative of the interface you'll ultimately be using. The promotional banner carousel doesn't help matters either. It's extremely poor and lacks any real creativity, relying heavily on fairly generic stock imagery with promotional text placed over the top. There's very little that feels bespoke to BetMaze or makes the promotions particularly engaging. For such a prominent part of the sportsbook, it simply isn't very inspiring and does little to give the site its own identity. The actual sportsbook has an old school European feel and uses a four column desktop layout. Some bettors will like this because it puts a huge amount of information on screen and allows you to move quickly between sports, competitions and events. Others will inevitably find it cluttered, so I think that part largely comes down to personal preference. My bigger criticism is simply that the platform looks dated. I've been familiar with this sportsbook technology for around a decade and remarkably little appears to have changed. BetMaze clearly has the ability to produce attractive branding, as you can see from the initial website, but once you reach the actual betting platform, those efforts are restricted by technology that is badly in need of an overhaul.

One thing I don't particularly like is the withdrawal fee. BetMaze charges 1% per withdrawal, capped at £3. Overall, the excellent range of payment methods is a definite positive and the processing times are reasonable, but I'd like to see the withdrawal fee removed and faster processing introduced in the future.

BetMaze does very well when it comes to deposit methods, offering one of the broader selections of payment options. You can deposit using major debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Payz, Paysafecard and Instant Bank Payment, giving you plenty of choice depending on how you prefer to fund your account. Instant Bank Payment also provides a useful alternative if you prefer depositing directly from your bank account. Overall, this is one of the stronger areas of the BetMaze banking experience. There's an excellent variety of payment methods covering cards, eWallets, mobile payments and bank payments, so most customers should have little difficulty finding a convenient way to deposit.

ProgressPlay is also licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority. Overall, BetMaze has the security measures I would expect from a regulated UK bookmaker. There is nothing particularly groundbreaking here, but encryption, payment security, identity checks and UKGC regulation provide the important layers of protection you want when depositing money and providing personal information online.

BetMaze offers customer support through live chat and email, with live chat being the quickest and most convenient option if you need assistance with your account. The support service is advertised as being available 24/7, which is a definite positive, particularly for a sportsbook where customers are betting outside normal working hours. I still think this is something bookmakers should provide, even if it's only available during normal working hours. When you're dealing with a more complicated account, verification or payment issue, sometimes it's considerably easier to actually speak to someone. Overall, 24/7 live chat and email provide the two most important support channels, while the FAQ and Help Centre are satisfactory without being particularly impressive. The addition of telephone support and a more comprehensive help section would improve the service considerably.

BetMaze offers live match trackers and visualisations on selected events, providing useful information such as scores, match progress and statistics without having to leave the sportsbook. These work particularly well alongside the heavily promoted In Play section and give you a quick overview of what's happening before placing a live bet. Beyond this, however, the selection of dedicated betting tools is fairly limited. I would like to see a proper statistics and research section where you can analyse teams, players, previous results and form, as well as practical tools such as a bet calculator. I'm also disappointed that BetMaze doesn't have a dedicated sports betting blog. There's no reason why operating on the ProgressPlay platform should prevent this, as Interbet previously operated on the same platform and produced an excellent sports blog with regular previews, betting tips and useful editorial content. This is something BetMaze could introduce independently of the underlying sportsbook technology and would add considerably more value to the overall site. I do understand some of the limitations of operating on a white label platform rather than an independently developed sportsbook, particularly when it comes to introducing new betting functionality. However, content and additional resources don't necessarily face those same restrictions. Overall, the live visualisations are useful and do their job well, but there's considerable scope for BetMaze to provide more statistics, research tools and editorial content around the core sportsbook.

BetMaze gives you a good level of control over your account, with the main settings and information relatively easy to access. You can manage deposits and withdrawals, view your transaction history, update certain personal details and access information relating to verification and your account. The Safer Gambling section is particularly comprehensive, allowing you to set daily, weekly and monthly deposit, wagering and loss limits. You can also use Reality Checks, take a Time Out or self exclude if required. These controls are applied across the ProgressPlay network where applicable, rather than simply to your BetMaze account. You can also manage basic sportsbook preferences, including how odds are displayed, while bonuses and rewards can be accessed through the relevant areas of your account. Overall, BetMaze does account management well. Most of the important functionality is available without having to contact customer support, and the range of Safer Gambling controls is particularly good. The presentation isn't as polished as some of the leading sportsbooks, but in terms of functionality, there isn't much missing.

Overall, BetMaze provides an excellent range of Responsible Gambling tools and deserves credit for the amount of external support information available. Making these resources even more prominent and accessible would improve things further.
